I try to avoid it as long as possible, but eventually, it always seems to catch up with me. Of course, I’m talking about laundry, and typically, it’s ones of two things that forces me to break down and do it:
- I’m out of clean towels.
- I’m out of clean boxers.
I must admit, however, that in the past I’ve solved the second problem with a quick trip to Walmart, but today, it was the lack of clean towels that was the catalyst. Desiring a shower, I noticed that I’d have to dry myself with paper napkins which I decided would be time-consuming, messy, and probably ineffective. Furthermore, my hamper is filled to the brim, and I’ve actually had to pull out the back-up hamper to deal with overflow.
It’s not that I dislike doing laundry, but rather, I dislike folding laundry. In these modern times, the washer and dryer do all the actual washing for me so I’m simply left with folding. Even though most of the work is done for me, I’ve got to ask, “Where’s my automatic folding machine?” It most certainly would be a “lazy innovation”, but I’d certainly be less apprehensive about doing laundry. Afterall, at this point, it would be fully automatic. Of course, if such a device were developed, I’d probably desire a robot to take the clothes to the laundry machine and put them away after the laundry cycle. This could lead to a vicious orbit of laziness resulting in a fatter, lazier me. On second thought… maybe I’ll just stick to doing laundry the good ol’ fashioned way (even if it’s not really the good ol’ fashioned way).
On that note. Hi, ho… hi, ho…. it’s off to the laundry I go!
