I hope everyone has had a relaxing, enjoyable Thanksgiving. While less eventful than normal, mine was still rather enjoyable although I did miss getting to see my extended family. Being that it’s Thanksgiving and given that I saw an interesting news story last night, I thought I’d talk about tofurkey. Yes, tofurkey. I’m sure that there are some vegetarians out there who love this stuff, but I know it’s not for my carnivorous self. Personally, I don’t see anything wrong with eating meat. PETA on the other hand has determined that the killing of turkeys somehow obviates their “civil rights”, and therefore, they urge that people investigate turkey alternatives such as Tofurkey. “Civil rights” for turkeys. That’s a new one for me, and I don’t really know what to think about that statement. I think I’ll leave it at that.

So the question remains, what is tofurkey? I’m sure that the astute reader (or maybe even not so astute reader) has already noted that tofurkey looks like the combination of the two words turkey and tofu. If you’re already there, that’s exactly what it is. However, I wasn’t exactly sure if it was in some way different than other types of tofu so I Google’d it, and I found that it’s simply tofu shaped like a turkey roast. So…. yeah. It’s nothing special, and I can’t say that it’s going to sway me from real turkey. Sorry.

All this talk of turkey and tofurky has whetted my appetite. I think I’ll go devour one of those poor, slaughtered turkeys that had its “civil rights” trampled all over. After that, I’ll go ahead and start a petition against the senseless killing of mosquitoes and all retailers selling fly swatters! Afterall, you’re most definitely trampling over the “civil rights” of mosquitoes by whimsically killing them, and any retailer selling fly swatters is facilitating their genocide! Those evil, corporate bastards!
